November Updates

posted 16 Nov 2016, 07:50 by Chris Morris   [ updated 16 Nov 2016, 10:11 ]
It feels like an age since I wrote a general update blog, so here we are! My goodness, the timetable is very busy at the moment, as it has been all year, which is great news but also tricky when four people have gotten in touch this week asking about lessons. I somehow manage to squeeze everybody in, but there is also one person on the waiting "list" (not really a list then, but still!).

Of course, there is lots happening at the moment, so lets just run down some of the latest news regarding Dundee Drum Academy.

Renovations

It's been about a month since we got our lovely new carpets laid down, and done some painting and I still haven't shared any photos. I feel the drum academy has been transformed. Take a look at these photos!

There's still plenty to be done, but I'm pleased that the teaching are looks more like a room and less like a disused basement now!

The Snare Drum Challenge

In case you missed the big announcement last month, the first ever Snare Drum Challenge is coming next year. This is a snare drumming contest open to all young people in the Dundee area (not just Dundee Drum Academy students), where participants can earn bronze, silver and gold certificates, as well as trophies. I'm really excited to see all who enter do well. Entries open on the 1st January 2017, and the event is free to come and watch, so please do come along and support some amazing young musicians!

Christmas Concert 2016

As always, I'm really excited for our annual Christmas Concert; I think we may have more performers than ever at this one, and as the lineup begins to take shape I'm getting even more excited to be able to present an evening of music of all different varieties, and to be able to see the young musicians step up in front of an audience and be recognised for the hard work they have put in. Please do join us on the 16th December to see some fantastic performances. Tickets can be purchased on the door, only £3 for adults, £2 for concessions.

That's all the updates for now. You can find all the latest news here on the blog, or sign up to the Dundee Drum Academy newsletter to have it sent straight to your inbox. See you all again soon!

Chris.
